Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved a Christmas bonus of ₦100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the State’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, who noted that the approval was granted on Monday. According to Dr. Nwaeke, the bonus is intended to enable workers and senior citizens to enjoy a joyous and fulfilling Christmas celebration.

This marks the second time under Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants in the state will receive a ₦100,000 Christmas bonus—a sum that exceeds the national minimum wage. Notably, this is the first year pensioners have been included in the initiative.
In a separate Christmas message, Governor Fubara called on the people of Rivers State to embrace peace, unity, and love during the festive season and beyond.
The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence as a means to address the nation’s economic and security challenges. He also reassured Rivers State residents that the coming year would bring new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
