A retired Controller of Works at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, AbdulRazaq Ajani, was brutally murdered by four unidentified young men in Ilorin, Kwara State, on January 1, 2025.

The tragic incident occurred around 3 p.m., shortly after Ajani and his family returned from Offa, their hometown, where they had celebrated the New Year.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the killing, stating that an investigation is ongoing, although no arrests have been made so far.

According to a family member, CCTV footage revealed two of the assailants lingering by the gate of Ajani’s residence while the other two casually walked into the compound. Moments later, Ajani, who had gone to meet them at the door, was attacked and killed in cold blood.

Eyewitnesses described a horrific scene, with bloodstains on the walls and the victim’s remains scattered across the floor. The attack reportedly happened in the presence of Ajani’s wife and children, leaving the family traumatized.

Ajani, who retired from the Federal Ministry of Works about four years ago, had recently returned on a contract appointment in 2024.

The tragic killing has left the community in shock, with sympathizers visiting the family home to offer condolences while police continue their investigation into the gruesome incident.
