A tragic incident occurred in Kampala, Uganda, on Monday, as Nigerian footballer Abubakar Lawal fell to his death from the third floor of a shopping mall balcony.

Lawal, 29, was a striker for the local premiership club Vipers.

According to police reports, Lawal had been visiting a Tanzanian friend staying in one of the residential apartments within the mall.

The friend claimed to have left Lawal alone shortly before the fall.

The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Lawal’s death, reviewing CCTV footage and conducting interrogations.

The Vipers Sports Club expressed their deep sadness over the loss of their beloved player, offering condolences to Lawal’s family, friends, and fans.
