The All Progressives Congress (APC) has gained a new senator as Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling party.
Jarigbe cited deep-seated internal divisions within the PDP as the reason for his departure, stating that the APC offers a more stable and progressive platform for serving his constituents.
With his defection, the APC now holds 77 seats in the Senate, while the PDP has 25 seats.
This move gives the APC a clean sweep of Cross River State’s senatorial seats, with Senators Eteng Williams and Asuquo Ekpenyong also representing the party.
