President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele, a renowned economist, accountant, and public policy expert, as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Doris Uzoka-Anite who will move to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State, and has extensive experience in tax policy, fiscal strategy, and economic governance.
Until his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system.
He spent 22 years at PwC, rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. Oyedele is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
Oyedele’s nomination has been formally conveyed to the Senate for confirmation. If confirmed, he will assume responsibility for strengthening fiscal reforms and economic management in Nigeria.
