Senator Saliu Mustapha has officially entered the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general election.
The senator representing Kwara Central announced on Wednesday that he had submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms to the party.
“Yesterday, I formally submitted my Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Primary Ticket for Kwara State,” Mustapha said in a Facebook post.
He described the submission as the start of the party’s screening process and “a significant step in the journey toward building a more progressive and inclusive Kwara State.”
Mustapha said he would continue engaging with residents, party leaders, and other stakeholders as the process moves forward. “Together, we will continue to work towards the future our state truly deserves,” he added.
The lawmaker currently chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development. He was elected to represent Kwara Central in 2023 on the APC platform.
His entry adds to a growing list of aspirants seeking the APC ticket in Kwara. Others linked to the race include former Kwara Central senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Kwara South senator Lolo Ashiru, former state APC chairman Bashir Bolarinwa, and civil engineer Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba.
