The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the men’s U-20 and U-17 national teams respectively, following a reshuffle of the technical crews of the country’s age-grade teams.

The appointments were approved by the NFF Executive Committee after recommendations from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee.

“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has endorsed the recommendation of the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee for the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the U20 and U17 Boys National Teams,” the NFF said in a statement on Thursday.

Maikaba, who takes charge of the Flying Eagles, has previously handled several top Nigerian clubs including Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Plateau United and Wikki Tourists. He also coached the Golden Eaglets in the past and served as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles under Paul Aigbogun.

The experienced tactician is best remembered for leading Akwa United to Federation Cup glory in 2017.

Uwejamomere, who has been appointed coach of the Golden Eaglets, previously worked as analyst with the Super Eagles and Super Falcons. He is currently head of academy at Sporting Lagos FC and has also held youth development roles with Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC in England.

He also previously managed Abeokuta-based Stormers FC.

Reports indicate that Uwejamomere beat competition from Beyond Limits coach Olumide Ajibolade and Plateau United coach Shola Adegun to secure the role.

Meanwhile, the NFF is yet to appoint a coach for the national U-23 team, with former Super Eagles stars Samson Siasia and Daniel Amokachi reportedly among the leading contenders ahead of preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers in Los Angeles.
