Nollywood filmmaker and actor Stanley Amandi was arrested in September 2025 for his alleged involvement in a plot to violently overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Premium Times have said.
Amandi, a director and former chairperson of the Enugu State Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, was reportedly recruited by the coup plotters to serve as a propagandist, leveraging his media skills and public profile to advance their agenda.
The alleged plan, uncovered ahead of its execution date of October 25, 2025, involved assassinating top government officials, including President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the investigation and plans to arraign the suspects before military judicial panels.
Amandi is a well-known figure in Nollywood, with credits as an actor, director, and production manager. His notable works include “The Album”, “Tiger King”, “Cornerstone”, and “Once Upon a Dream”.
