Three members of an armed criminal gang that attacked the convoy of Chris Uba, a well-known member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were successfully neutralised by the Anambra State Police Command.
Two police officers from the Enugu State Command lost their lives in an attack that took place at Uga, which is located in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, on December 28, 2023.
During a press conference, Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police, verified the triumph of the operation.

He announced the successful rescue of a 51-year-old victim of kidnapping and reassured the public that a comprehensive manhunt was still underway to capture the remaining members of the criminal gang.
Adeoye emphasized the police force’s dedication to apprehending the offenders, making it very evident that lawbreakers would not be able to avoid punishment.
He said, “Since the attack at Uga, the gang has been under close surveillance. But what held the police back was to avoid unintended casualties, as this is the season of merrymaking.
“The police struck immediately, and the gang was isolated from the innocent public somewhere around Ogboji, in Orumba South Local Government.
“Three members of the gang were killed, and four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and defused.
“In addition, two pump action guns and 16 live cartridges were recovered, as well as one Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
“A 51-year-old kidnap victim was rescued.“
