President Bola Tinubu has issued an immediate suspension to Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale disclosed this on Monday.
The President instructs the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to thoroughly investigate financial transactions related to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and its affiliated agencies.
The suspended Minister is directed to hand over responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary and cooperate fully with the investigation.
Additionally, a panel led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance is tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the financial structure of social investment programs, aiming to reform relevant institutions and programs to eradicate institutional weaknesses for the exclusive benefit of disadvantaged households and restore public confidence in the initiative.
