During a meeting with Togolese counterpart Robert Dussey, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasised the importance of true friends supporting each other during critical moments.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks upon his arrival at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport in Lomé, Togo.
Dussey, who specially greeted Wang at the airport, affirmed Togo’s commitment to the one-China principle and its support for China’s stance on the Taiwan issue.

The Togolese government reiterated the belief in one China, recognizing the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing the entire nation.
Dussey emphasised that Taiwan is an integral part of China’s territory, and its affairs are considered internal matters of China.
Togo pledged full support to China in safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity. In response, Wang expressed gratitude for Togo’s unwavering support and assured continued strong backing for Togo’s sovereignty, security, and development interests.
Both countries affirmed their commitment to upholding the principle of non-interference in internal affairs as a fundamental norm in international relations.
