Super Eagles defender, William Troost Ekong is set to miss the rest of the 2023-2024 season due to an Injury.

The 2023 Afcon Most Valuable Player will undergo surgery in Finland on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 to repair a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg. The skipper suffered the injury in the second group phase game against Ivory Coast but played through the pain to the final as the Super Eagles lost to the Host Nation.

The 30-year-old played six matches in the Afcon tournament missing out on the last group game against Guinea Bissau. He was the top goalscorer for the Nigeria National Team at the 2023 Nations Cup alongside Ademola Lookman.

The PAOK Defender will be a big miss for his club as they continue their European run in the UEFA Conference League. They will play against Panserraikos on Wednesday in the Greece Super League.
