Nigeria’s Women’s Basketball Team, DTigress has been drawn in Group B to face Hosts, France at the 2024 Paris Olympics scheduled to start in July.
The Draws which were made at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland will see AfroBasket Champions, DTigress drawn alongside Canada and Australia on Tuesday. The draws were overseen by basketball icons, Penny Taylor and NBA legend, Carmelo Anthony.
The draws were made based on world rankings, along with geographical considerations. The 12 teams were divided into four pots. Each group consisted of a minimum of one and a maximum of two teams from Europe, while Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania each have no more than one team per continent in each group.
In the other groups, Reigning world champions, United States are drawn in Group C against Germany, Japan and Belgium. Group A has Serbia, Spain, China and Puerto Rico. A total of 12 teams at the Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 will be competing for the gold medal. The Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 tips off on July 28th and concludes on August 11th, 2024.
