Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface has returned to training at Bayer Leverkusen after being sidelined due to injury.
The 23-year-old had an outstanding start to life at the German Club, Bayer Leverkusen following his $20.5 million transfer from Belgium club, Royale Union SG. He has scored 16 goals and assisted eight in 23 games for the club. His sterling performances for the club earned him back-to-back Bundesliga Rookie of the Month awards. He received a call-up to the Nigeria National Team for the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire but sustained an adductor injury at the beginning of the year which ruled him out of the tournament.

Boniface underwent surgery in January as he shares pictures of himself during the rehabilitation process. He was expected to be out of action until May but as things stand, he might return to match day fixture sooner. In a new development on Monday, Bayer Leverkusen shared pictures of Boniface at the club training ground with his other teammates.

Despite the striker’s absence from the Club, Xabi Alonso’s side has been superb in all competitions. They remain the only team in Europe’s Top Five league to lose a game. They also lead the German Bundesliga table with an eight-point advantage over last season’s Champions, Bayern Munich with eight games left.

Boniface’s return to training is a big boost for Bayer Leverkusen and Nigeria as there are upcoming games in the Europa League Quarter-Finals and 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. The league leaders will face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday, hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.
