Nigeria’s Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare is set to unveil a new football club, Black Scorpions in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The club nicknamed the Stingers will compete in Nigeria’s third-tier league, The Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) with plans to gain promotion to the elite Division (NPFL).

Dare who served as former minister of youth and sport from 2019 to 2023 is a renowned sports enthusiast and philanthropist who expressed his excitement on the launching of the club and emphasized his commitment to developing grassroots football in the South West region. He also stated that the objective of the Black Scorpions is to provide young talented players with the opportunity to showcase their skills and make a career in professional football.

Many sports stakeholders across Nigeria, politicians, and dignitaries will attend the unveiling ceremony scheduled to be held today.
The new club is expected to begin training sessions soon and will scout for talented players to join the team. Dare has also announced his intention to invest in infrastructure and facilities to support football development in the state.
