Inaugural flight is scheduled for June 16, 2024. Warsaw is going to be the 24th Ethiopian Airlines destination in Europe.  The airline has over 60 destinations in Africa.

“The new route, ET 764 from Addis Ababa to Warsaw via Athens, will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Return flight ET 765 from Warsaw to Addis Ababa via Athens will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays,” the airlines said in a statement it released on Saturday.

Mesfin Tasew, the CEO, expressed his excitement about Warsaw as the new addition to Ethiopian destination.

“We are truly excited to further grow our presence in the European market with yet another new destination. This development is in harmony with our strategic intent to bridge Africa with the globe while fostering commerce and tourism within the continent. We have finalized our preparations to start delivering a gratifying journey experience to our patrons on this route,” he said.

The 78 years old Ethiopian Airlines has currently over 135 global destinations around the world.   The airline is currently implementing its “vision 2035” strategic plan and foresees well over 200 global destinations by end of the time indicated earlier.

It aspires to transform itself to “one of the top 20 most competitive and leading aviation groups in the world by providing safe, secured, market driven and customer focused Passenger and Cargo Transport and Logistics, Aviation Training, Airport Management and Ground Services, MRO and Aerospace Manufacturing and Travel and Tourism Services. “

In March 2024, Ethiopian Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing to acquire 20 latest jets as part of the pursuit to achieve its strategic plan for the year 2035.
