The Federal government of Nigeria has announced Wednesday, May 1st, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed the declaration on Tuesday, April 30. He stressed the importance of excellence, efficiency, and equity across all labor sectors, reaffirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to nurturing a culture of innovation, productivity, and inclusivity in workplaces.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized, “In line with this year’s theme, which focuses on ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, I wish to emphasize that the Federal Government remains unwavering in its commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of all citizens.”

He continued, “Let me reiterate Mr. President’s pledge to providing a conducive work environment, where every worker can thrive and make meaningful contributions to national development,” as stated in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako.
