The Kaduna State University has announced that students facing financial difficulties will be allowed to sit exams despite outstanding school fees for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The university’s management, in a statement on Thursday, said the development was under the directive of Governor Uba Sani, to lessen the impact of current economic challenges on its student body.

The statement partly read, “The management wishes to notify both new and returning students for the 2023/2024 academic session that they can now write the forthcoming examinations irrespective of whether or not they have paid their school fees.

“This is in line with the visionary policy of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, geared towards mitigating the current economic challenges faced by students.”

The statement added that the university Bursar’s office is open for further information and inquiries regarding the temporary clearance policy.

“However, for those students wishing to pay their school fees, the payment channels remain unchanged,” it added.

It can be recalled that in 2023, the Kaduna State governor announced the downward review of fees payable in state-owned tertiary institutions.

Sani noted that the downward review was in tandem with the general rise in the cost of living, following the subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
