The military has declared Halilu Buzu wanted for involvement in terrorist activities, illegal arms trafficking, illegal mining, and cattle rustling.
At a bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, announced that Buzu, a native of Niger, operates from a forest in Zamfara State. He frequently escapes to the Niger Republic after carrying out attacks in Nigeria.
General Buba emphasized that the military is collaborating with Niger Republic counterparts to capture Buzu, who commands a significant number of followers.

Additionally, Buba reported that Nigerian Army troops have rescued 253 kidnapped victims in the past two weeks. This achievement involved Troops of Operations Y-Watch, Nokia-Fighting Patrols, and Operations Delta State.
Highlighting the ongoing efforts against insurgency, Buba stated that the military had neutralised 227 terrorists and arrested 529. In the same period, eleven individuals involved in oil theft were also apprehended.
“We relentlessly target these categories of terrorists such that we will be able to take them out, and take them off the battlefield as soon as possible.
“Soon, the fate of such terrorists will be decided. It will be violent and it will be short, and will stop at nothing to take them off the battlefield,” he said.
