Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the launch of more infrastructure and urban renewal projects on Thursday.
Tinubu spoke during the inauguration of roads B6, B12, and Circle Road in the Central Area District of Abuja. Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to infrastructural development and urban renewal, President Tinubu highlighted these projects as essential for fostering a more connected and prosperous Nigeria.

Roads B6 (Constitution Avenue) and B12 (Independence Avenue) in the heart of Abuja connect key zones including cultural, diplomatic, and commercial areas. The President emphasized that these projects will alleviate traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and enhance connectivity within the capital.
Tinubu who was represented by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu revealed that: “Our Renewed Hope Agenda prioritizes infrastructure as a catalyst for economic advancement, focusing on building roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure that will connect people and boost the economy.”

Reflecting on his first year in office, he said, “We set forth an ambitious agenda to transform our nation’s infrastructural landscape. Efficient transport networks are vital for economic growth, social integration, and national development.”
Acknowledging the contributions of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his team, Tinubu commended their dedication to high standards of quality. “As we celebrate, we recognize our work is not over. We remain committed to building more roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure to connect our people and drive our economy,” he added.

Minister Wike highlighted President Tinubu’s leadership as the key to the project’s success. He noted that the road, initially awarded in 2007 at N48.5 billion, saw its cost rise to N98.8 billion by 2021. However, within one year of Tinubu’s administration, the long-standing project was completed.
“This is the power of effective leadership,” Wike said, emphasizing the President’s directive to complete ongoing projects before starting new ones. The 2024 budget reflects this directive, with 58 percent allocated to completing existing projects and 42 percent for new initiatives.

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, praised President Tinubu’s leadership and his decision to name the Arterial Road N20 after Wole Soyinka Way as a commitment to excellence.
Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Shehu Hadi, described the new roads as a vital network connecting key zones in Abuja. Designed for efficiency and safety, they include two main carriageways, two bus lanes, and 41 bridges and retaining walls at various intersections to ensure smooth travel and minimize congestion.
