FOOTBALL: NFF Announces President Federation Cup Finals Date

The grand finale of the 2024 President Federation Cup Men and Women’s competitions will be held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, June 29th.

The Women’s competition is at the quarter-final stage, while the Men’s event has reached the semi-finals. NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, stated that the date was agreed upon by both the NFF and GTI to meet the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) deadline for submitting the country’s representatives for next season’s continental club competitions.

In a statement released by the NFF, The General Secretary, Sanusi revealed that “After carefully considering our schedules, the current stages of the men’s and women’s competitions, and the need to submit the names of our representative clubs to CAF for next season’s African Club Competitions, we have agreed that the grand finale for both the men’s and women’s President Federation Cup finals will be held on Saturday, June 29,”

The women’s final will begin at 1 pm, followed by the men’s final at 4 pm. The quarter-finals of the women’s competition are scheduled for Wednesday (today) in Benin City, Asaba, and Enugu. The men’s semi-finals will take place on Thursday, June 20th, in Abuja and Lafia.

In the women’s quarter-finals, Nasarawa Amazons will face Remo Stars Ladies at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, while Delta Queens will compete against Sunshine Queens at the same venue. FC Robo Queens of Lagos will clash with Naija Ratels of Abuja in Asaba, and Osun Babes will go up against Rivers Angels at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

In the men’s semi-finals, Abia Warriors will face Kano Pillars at the Lafia City Stadium. El-Kanemi Warriors, who recently secured promotion to the NPFL following the NNL Super 8 Tournament, will take on Kebbi United, who have made it to this stage by defeating higher-rated teams such as ABS FC of Ilorin, NPFL side Akwa United, and EFCC FC of Abuja. This match will be held at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project on Thursday.
