South Africa: DA Suspends New MP Over Resurfaced Racist Video

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has suspended newly sworn-in MP Renaldo Gouws after a resurfaced video showed him using violent racist language against black people. 

Gouws initially claimed the video was doctored, but the DA confirmed its authenticity in a statement on Thursday.

The footage shows Gouws repeatedly using a local slur for Black Africans and the n-word. The DA, now part of the government of national unity, announced that Gouws will face disciplinary charges.
