21-year-old defender Adeleke Adekunle has joined Israeli second-division side, Maccabi Kabilio Jaffa from Sporting Lagos in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

He has signed a one-year contract with an option for the club to extend it for an additional two years. The former Enyimba and Abia Warriors defender’s move marks a significant step in his career as he transitions from playing in Nigeria’s top league to Israel. His performances at Sporting Lagos caught the attention of scouts, leading to this promising new chapter in Israel.

In his time with the NPFL, Adekunle has been recognized for his solid defensive skills and growth potential. His versatility and consistent play have made him a valuable asset, and his move to Maccabi Kabilio Jaffa is expected to further his development and exposure on the international stage.
Adekunle also gained experience with the home-based Super Eagles, as he featured in the team that lost to Mexico in a 4-0 defeat in 2021.
