English Premier League club, Brighton has secured the signing of Gambia International, Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United for £30m.

Newcastle needed to make a significant sale by the end of June to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability regulations. The Minteh deal was announced on July 1st, and the Magpies have also sold Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest.

The 19-year-old forward has signed a contract with Brighton that runs until June 2029. In a statement, Brighton’s technical director, David Weir said “Yankuba is a young talent that has attracted a lot of interest, so we’re delighted to welcome him to the club,”. “He is an exciting attacking player with incredible speed.

He had a very impressive campaign with Feyenoord, gaining experience in both the Champions League and Europa League,”. “Now we will give him the time and support he needs to ensure that he settles in.”

Newcastle signed Minteh from Danish club, Odense in June 2023, but he did not make a first-team appearance for the Magpies. Last season, he was on loan at Dutch club, Feyenoord, where he scored 10 goals in 27 league games including a goal against Celtic in the Champions League. On international duty, Minteh has also scored three goals in seven appearances for Gambia.

Newcastle United also extended its best wishes to Yankuba for the future.
