The Nigeria Women’s Basketball Team, D’Tigress, has unveiled a 16-woman roster for their training camp in Germany in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Among the selected players is 2019 Women’s Afrobasket Most Valuable Player, Ezinne Kalu, making her return to the team. The likes of 2023 Women Afro Basket Most Valuable Player, Amy Okonkwo with Elizabeth Balogun, Lauren Ebo were also included in the team coached by Rena Wakama.

The AfroBasket Champions will play three preparatory matches before finalizing the 12-player roster for the Olympic Games.

According to Akeem Busari, the media coordinator for the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF), D’Tigress will compete in two preparatory games against Germany and Puerto Rico before the basketball event at the Olympics begins on July 28 in Paris. The team will play Germany on July 19 in Berlin and face Puerto Rico on July 24 in France.

In the Paris 2024 Olympics, D’Tigress is placed in Group B and will compete against Canada, Australia, and the host nation, France. Their first match will be against Australia on July 29, 2024.
