The Federal Government of Nigeria has reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to allow Nigerian passport holders to obtain visas for travel to the Arab nation starting today, July 15, 2024.
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a briefing with State House correspondents following the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
This announcement comes over two years after the UAE suspended visa issuance to Nigerians due to a protracted diplomatic dispute with Africa’s most populous nation.
The news also follows the recent announcement by UAE’s national carrier, Emirates Airlines, which plans to resume daily Lagos-Dubai flights from October 1, 2024, after a hiatus since May.
