NEMA has begun preparations to mitigate the impact of flooding in these regions. Godwin Tepikor, the agency’s director in charge, is urging local government authorities to support efforts in reducing the effects of the flood.

Additionally, NEMA predicted earlier that eight LGAs in Zamfara State are also at risk of flooding. Zubaida Umar, the Director-General of the agency’s Zamfara branch, revealed that Bugundu, Gunmi, Gusau, Bakura, Maradun, Talata Mafara, Shinkafi, and Zurmi are vulnerable to flooding. She emphasized the necessity of collective action to protect vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure.
