Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has signed a two-year contract extension with Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Shooting Stars, keeping him with the club until 2026.

According to the team’s media officer, Tosin Omojola, Ogunbote’s decision came after weeks of discussions with the club’s management.

After signing the contract, Ogunbote expressed his excitement on X: “I am thrilled to announce that I have signed a two-year contract as the head coach of Shooting Stars. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this talented group of athletes and I am excited about the future we will build together.

Ogunbote led the Oluyole Warriors to a fourth-place finish in the NPFL last season. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Shooting Stars lost one nil to Olorunleke Ojo’s Al-Merrikh in the ongoing ValueJet Cup at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. The goal was scored in the 77th minute by Ayoub Ballouchy.
