Nigerian boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore has been removed from the Paris Olympics women’s tournament after testing positive for a banned substance, the International Testing Agency (ITA) announced on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who is the African Games lightweight champion, tested positive for the diuretic furosemide, a known masking agent, in a sample taken on Thursday, according to the ITA.
As a result, Ogunsemilore is provisionally suspended and will not be allowed to participate in the Olympics. She was scheduled to compete in the round of 16 on Monday as the fourth-seeded boxer in the women’s 60-kilogram (132-pound) category.

Ogunsemilore claimed the African Games title in her weight class last year and earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
This marks the second doping case at the Paris Olympics, following the ITA’s announcement on Friday that Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen tested positive for two anabolic steroids.
