The match saw Greek striker, Georgios Koutsias open the scoring for Chicago Fire in the 22nd minute. However, Kansas City’s US defender Robert Castellanos netted the equalizer in the 39th minute.

The Leagues Cup, a World Cup-style tournament, features teams from MLS and Mexico’s Liga MX. It consists of three team groups, with the top two advancing to knockout rounds.
Host, New York City FC edged Mexico’s Queretaro 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw, earning two points in the group table. Queretaro secured one point, with FC Cincinnati yet to play.
