Gunmen have kidnapped Isa Muhammad Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, along with his son and brother. The abduction occurred on Saturday near Kwanan Maharba as they were returning from Sokoto.
Garba Umar Kaba, the Sole Administrator of Sabon Birni LGA, confirmed the incident but noted that the exact time of the abduction remains unclear. He stated that the kidnappers have yet to make contact, and the community is awaiting further information on their demands.
Kaba expressed frustration over the persistent attacks despite efforts to bolster security in the region. He highlighted the challenges faced by security operatives and lamented the ongoing violence.
Bawa, who was formerly the District Head of Sabon Birni before his recent redeployment, has been a notable figure in an area plagued by bandit attacks for several years.
