Mgbudem was elected at the national convention which held on Sunday in Abuja.

Until his election, Mgbudem was the chairman of the party’s caretaker committee.

The party also elected other officers into its national working committee (NWC).

Those elected include Maryam Saleh (deputy national chairman), Adebukola Abiola Ajimobi (national secretary), Abdul Rahman Danladi (deputy national secretary), Abdulazeez Salahudeen (national treasurer), and Ibe Kenechukwu (national organising secretary).

Others are Joseph Omorogbe (national publicity secretary), Magret Belaboh (national financial secretary), Muhammadu G. Umar (national auditor), Muhammed Sani A (national youth leader), and Awogbade Adekemi Rachael (national women leader).

The national officers were elected through affirmation or voice vote by delegates.

The election was conducted by the party’s national convention planning committee chaired by Fred Obi.

Speaking after the election, Mgbudem said he is “filled with profound gratitude and immense pride, humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in me to serve as your National Chairman”.

Mgbudem said he is “deeply committed” to leading the party to become a “formidable force” in the nation’s political landscape.

“Together, we will cultivate a party that is not only respected but also admired for its innovative ideas and unwavering commitment to the betterment of our country,” he said.

“I firmly believe that under my leadership, key stakeholders from Accord will rise to prominent positions — governorship, senatorial seats, ministerial roles, and potentially the presidential seat.

“Our collective ambition knows no bounds, and our potential is limitless.

“I pledge my allegiance to elevate our party to the highest political pedestal, ensuring that Accord is synonymous with progress, innovation, and success.

“With fresh and innovative ideas as our driving force, we will create an environment where every member of Accord can thrive and proudly contribute to our shared goals.

“Together, we will usher in a new era of excellence and prosperity, where all Accord members will have reason to smile and celebrate our achievements.

“Our journey ahead is bright, and I am excited to embark on this path with each one of you.”
