Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, has officially requested to leave the Serie A club this summer, as confirmed by Giovanni Manna, one of Napoli’s directors.

The Nigerian forward, who has yet to play for Napoli this season under new coach, Antonio Conte, has clearly expressed his desire to move on, leading the club to explore potential replacements. Manna revealed that Romelu Lukaku has emerged as a leading candidate to fill the void left by Osimhen, although any deal for Lukaku would depend on Osimhen’s successful departure.

Manna also disclosed that the 25-year-old had opportunities to leave the former Italian champions during the previous transfer window, but no substantial offers were made this summer. “Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club. He wants to go,” Manna said. “The situation is clear; there were already chances for his exit last summer. Victor wants to leave. We will see in the next 20 days.”

Osimhen has been linked with several top European clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, as the transfer window enters its final stages.
