Rwanda and the Kingdom of Eswatini have strengthened their bilateral ties by signing four agreements on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024.
These agreements cover areas including defense and security operations, police cooperation, correctional services, and visa exemption for diplomatic and service passports.

The signing ceremony was overseen by Rwandan President, Paul Kagame and King Mswati III of Eswatini, who was in Rwanda following his attendance at the Presidential inauguration on August 11th, 2024. During his visit, King Mswati III and his delegation were welcomed by Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame at Village Urugwiro.

President Kagame expressed his gratitude for King Mswati III’s visit, emphasizing that the agreements would further solidify the cooperation between the two nations. He highlighted Rwanda’s eagerness to share its experiences in national transformation with partners like Eswatini and stressed the importance of implementing the agreements to achieve tangible results.

King Mswati III praised Rwanda’s socioeconomic progress and leadership, noting the country’s contributions to peace and security through peacekeeping missions. He emphasized the strong relations between Rwanda and Eswatini and expressed optimism about future collaborations in areas such as peace and security, health, development, climate change, and food security.
The two countries have enjoyed longstanding relations, and in 2022, they established a joint permanent commission through a general cooperation agreement. The newly signed agreements are expected to enhance skills development, technical exchanges, and human capital development.
During his visit, King Mswati III toured Rwanda’s Irembo e-government services portal and the Kigali Special Economic Zone. He also extended an invitation to President Kagame to visit Eswatini, expressing hope for continued cooperation in sectors like agriculture, technology, and tourism, and encouraging the private sectors of both countries to seize investment opportunities.
