Guaranty Trust Bank, one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, has clarified that its website was not cloned but experienced an “isolated incident of an attempt to compromise” its domain.

The website has been inaccessible since Wednesday night, sparking concerns among customers about potential data breaches. In a statement released on Thursday, the bank reassured customers that no customer information is stored on its website, and there has been no compromise of customer data.

GTBank emphasized that its website has not been cloned and that a dedicated team of Information Security Experts is working diligently to restore domain settings. The bank assured that the website will be operational shortly.
“We urge all our customers to disregard the claims in these media reports and rest assured of our unwavering commitment to safeguarding customer data,” the bank stated.
