Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have maintained their 36th position in the latest FIFA global rankings, as announced on August 16, 2024. Despite a challenging performance at the recent Women’s Summer Olympics in Paris, where they failed to advance past the group stage, the Falcons remain the top-ranked women’s team in Africa.
In the Olympic tournament, the Super Falcons suffered three consecutive losses, including defeats to Brazil and Spain, and a significant 3-1 loss to Japan, which left them at the bottom of Group C.
Following Nigeria in the African rankings are South Africa (50th), Morocco (59th), Zambia (62nd), and Ghana (66th).
