The local government council elections, originally scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. were delayed in some polling units due to the late arrival of election materials.

At the Dan Iya Registration Area in Bauchi Local Government Area, which has 117 polling units, the distribution of electoral materials did not begin until 10 a.m. and continued until around 11 a.m.

The Ad-hoc staff from the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission were already at their registration areas as early as 7 a.m.

They were heard complaining of lack of mobility to their respective polling units.

Meanwhile, the police have restricted vehicular movement for non-essential workers from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They have also deployed adequate security to the over 5,000 polling units across the state.
