Nigeria’s handball team will face Chinese Taipei today in a placement match at the ongoing 10th IHF Women’s Youth (U18) World Championship in Chuzhou, China.

After failing to advance to the quarterfinals, Nigeria struggled in their Group B matches, losing 31-11 to Croatia, 26-9 to Montenegro, and securing a lone victory with a 29-21 win over Angola. In the President’s Cup, they narrowly lost 22-23 to Chile and suffered a 33-14 defeat against Austria.

As the main round concludes and the President’s Cup wraps up at the Olympic Sports Centre, the four quarterfinals are set, alongside placement matches that will determine the final standings.
The quarterfinal matchups include Croatia vs. Denmark, Hungary vs. Serbia, France vs. Germany, and Japan vs. Spain. Among these teams, only Denmark has previously won the title, while the others, including Croatia, France, Spain, and Japan, are still seeking their first medal in the competition.
