In a tragic turn of events, Inspector Collins Wilson has been accused of killing three people in an effort to shield his girlfriend, identified only as Esther, from the consequences of a theft. The incident took place on Monday, August 26th, after Esther was accused of stealing a phone from a tricycle driver who was transporting her.
According to eyewitnesses, the theft was exposed when the stolen phone rang in Esther’s possession, leading to a confrontation with bystanders. As tensions rose, Esther called her boyfriend, Inspector Wilson, to the scene.
Upon arrival, Inspector Wilson, in a desperate attempt to protect Esther and cover up the crime, drew his service weapon and ordered Esther to stand behind him. He then fired at close range, killing two individuals instantly: the tricycle driver and a bystander who was trying to mediate.
A third victim, the motorcyclist who had transported Wilson to the scene, was critically injured and initially taken to Garki Hospital but was reportedly turned away. He later died at the National Hospital, where he could not receive proper care due to an ongoing doctors’ strike.
Following the shooting, Inspector Wilson fled the scene with Esther, commandeering a tricycle and later switching to a motorcycle to avoid detection. However, the motorcyclist who had transported Wilson back to his post led angry residents to his location.
The residents swiftly mobilized and apprehended both Inspector Wilson and Esther at the estate where he was stationed. The couple was handed over to the police.
As of Tuesday, authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident. Outraged residents have reportedly brought the bodies of two victims to the police command, demanding justice for the senseless killings.
