The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has repatriated Zimbabwean Bishop Eben Nhiwatawi for violating immigration protocols. According to a statement issued by the NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI KT Udo, in Abuja on Wednesday, the Bishop was deported on August 24, 2024.

Bishop Nhiwatawi arrived in Nigeria on August 21, 2024, holding a Tourist Visa (F5A) intended exclusively for tourism. However, authorities discovered that he was involved in the Methodist Church leadership election process, an activity that contravenes the terms of his visa as outlined in the Nigeria Visa Policy 2024.

“In light of the above, the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, with Ministerial approval, has ordered his immediate repatriation from the country,” the statement read.

The NIS emphasized its commitment to facilitating lawful Foreign Direct Investment and business and social activities that contribute to economic growth. However, it warned that it would not tolerate any violations of Nigeria’s immigration laws.

“The Service remains committed to preserving the country’s National Security and will continue to monitor the activities of foreigners for such purposes,” the NIS added.
