Elections for LG Chairmen and Councillor positions in Kebbi state commenced peacefully on Saturday with massive turnout of voters across designated polling units in the 250 political wards in the state

The exercise which started as early as 8 am commenced with accreditation and voting simultaneously in most polling units in Argungu, Augie and Ambursa following early arrival of election materials and officials at polling units.

It was reported that election materials, security personnel , party agents of the 17 participating political parties and election monitors were seen at most of the polling units visited.

It was observed that appreciable turnout of voters especially women in long queues waiting to cast their votes.

It was also observed that women voters also outnumbered the men in all the polling units visited in Birnin Kebbi in the state capital.

Although, in Gotomo and Zauro towns , the exercise could not commence early in some polling units until around 9:00am due to an early morning down pour even as sensitive materials were distributed since Friday.
