Nigeria’s Onyinyechi Mark Smashes Paralympic Record in Women’s 61kg Powerlifting

Onyinyechi Mark has made history at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games by breaking the world record in the women’s 61kg powerlifting category. Mark lifted an incredible 145kg, surpassing the previous record held by fellow Nigerian, Lucy Ejike.

With one lift remaining, Mark is poised to claim Nigeria’s first gold medal of the Games. Her nearest competitor is attempting 138kg, while Mark is set to push the boundaries further with a final attempt of 147kg.
