The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken swift action against one of its prominent members, Senator Dino Melaye from Kogi, suspending him over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision to suspend Melaye was made on Friday by the ward party executive committee in Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1, following a review of the disciplinary committee’s report on his recent actions.
Melaye’s conduct was reportedly seen as harmful to the interests and unity of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), leading to his suspension.
This is not the first time the PDP has taken action against members accused of anti-party activities. In August 2024, Osun chieftain Peter Babalola faced suspension for similar reasons, including his absence from party meetings for two years.
Likewise, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom was suspended by the Benue PDP, also over allegations of anti-party activities. Additionally, Senator Gabriel Suswam and others were summoned by the Benue PDP on charges of gross misconduct and anti-party behavior.
These instances highlight the PDP’s ongoing effort to uphold party discipline and unity. As of now, more details regarding Melaye’s suspension are expected to surface.
