The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the results of the June/July 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination, with 60.55% of candidates achieving five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed this during a press briefing at the NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday. He reported that a total of 1,376,423 candidates, including 706,950 males and 669,473 females, registered for the examination.
Providing a detailed breakdown, Prof. Wushishi stated, “A total of 1,367,736 candidates sat for the exam, comprising 702,112 males and 665,624 females. Out of these, 828,284 candidates, or 60.55%, secured five credits and above, including English and Mathematics. Furthermore, 1,147,597 candidates, representing 83.90%, achieved five credits and above in all subjects, irrespective of English and Mathematics.”

Wushishi also highlighted a significant reduction in examination malpractice this year, with 8,437 cases recorded, compared to 12,030 in 2023—a 30.1% decrease.
However, he revealed that 40 schools across 17 states were involved in mass cheating during the exam. “These schools will be summoned to the Council for discussions, and appropriate sanctions will follow. One school in Ekiti has been recommended for de-recognition due to mass cheating in two core subjects and one science subject.”
In addition, 21 supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to misconduct, including poor supervision, aiding malpractice, extortion, drunkenness, and negligence, across 12 states.
Professor Wushishi urged candidates to check their results on the NECO website using their examination registration number. He concluded, “I hereby officially declare the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination results released to the public.”
