Nigerian singer and DJ, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has made history as the first British-Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola and founder of the Cuppy Foundation led the session titled “The Summit of the Future – Youth Action Day,” marking a significant milestone in her career.
In a post shared on her Instagram, DJ Cuppy reflected on her achievement, expressing pride in her role at the 79th UNGA. “It is so wonderful to be here. This is actually my second time DJing at the United Nations, so I must be doing something right… But the coolest thing I’ve done by far is opening this session,” she shared.
DJ Cuppy also highlighted her passion for education, proudly stating that she has earned three university degrees by the age of 30, with one of her most challenging qualifications from New York University (NYU). She further hinted at the recent completion of her PhD thesis.
Reflecting on her career, she added, “I’ve interned for Jay-Z, been on Forbes 30 Under 30 twice, and even filmed MTV Cribs. But nothing compares to speaking to all of you today.”
Her participation at the UNGA cements her position as not only a prominent figure in entertainment but also a passionate advocate for education and youth empowerment.
