Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). According to a statement released on Monday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport earlier in the day.
Upon arrival, the vice president was welcomed by key officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, and Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Kashifu Inuwa. Nigerian diplomats and UN representatives were also on hand to receive him.
In line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive, Vice President Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to this year’s UNGA. He is set to deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in several high-level meetings. The vice president departed Nigeria for New York on Sunday.
