The Akwa Ibom State government has directed that the Nigerian flag be flown at half-mast across all government buildings and facilities, in honor of the state’s First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, who passed away in the early hours of Friday.

In a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the death of Pastor Patience was described as “sad and painful.” She died at a hospital, surrounded by family, following an illness, according to the Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.
The official announcement, titled “Unexpected Sunset,” reads: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, the wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. She passed away peacefully at the hospital on September 26, 2024, with her family by her side.”
