Bayer Leverkusen extended their flawless start in this season’s Champions League with a hard-fought victory over AC Milan at home.
Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, slotting in the rebound after Milan goalkeeper, Mike Maignan had initially saved Jeremie Frimpong’s effort.

Despite Milan growing stronger as the game progressed, they were unlucky not to equalize when Theo Hernandez’s deflected shot hit the crossbar with seven minutes left. Alvaro Morata also came close, narrowly missing a header from the rebound.
Leverkusen controlled much of the match and had a first-half goal disallowed by VAR, ruling that Frimpong had been offside before setting up Boniface in the 21st minute.

The German side had previously dominated Feyenoord with a 4-0 win in their opening group match, while Milan suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at home.
