The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially opened their training camp in Uyo ahead of the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Libya.

Nine players have already reported to camp as Coach Austin Eguavoen’s squad prepares for the upcoming encounters later this week.
Among the early arrivals are Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze, Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Augsburg’s Frank Onyeka, Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika, Crawley Town’s Benjamin Tanimu, and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, who all checked in this morning.
Team officials expect the full squad to be present ahead of the first training session, scheduled for 5 pm today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie were among the first to report on Monday, as the Super Eagles begin their preparations for the AFCON qualifiers. Around 20 players are expected to take part in today’s session, which will be open to the public.
As the camp builds momentum, Nigeria aims to strengthen its position in Group D. However, they will be without key striker Victor Osimhen and defender Olisa Ndah, who are unavailable for this round of qualifiers.

Despite these absences, the Super Eagles are focused on securing maximum points against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights, who currently sit at the bottom of the group with just one point from two matches.
Libya’s head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has acknowledged that defeating Nigeria will be difficult but believes that securing a draw would be a positive result for his team as they fight to remain in the qualification race.
The first match of the double-header is set for Friday, October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
