Nigeria’s Super Eagles B are set to face their long-time West African rivals, Ghana, in the second round of the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
The draw, which took place at CAF Headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, has set the stage for a highly anticipated two-legged clash, as both teams battle for a spot in next year’s CHAN tournament.

The first leg will take place in Ghana between December 20th and 22nd, with the return leg scheduled for Nigeria between December 27th and 29th, 2024.
Nigeria’s CHAN squad, known as the Super Eagles B, will be led by a coaching team featuring Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers and Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars, with oversight from Augustine Eguavoen.
The encounter offers Nigeria an opportunity for redemption after Ghana’s Black Galaxies eliminated them from the last CHAN qualifiers in a penalty shootout, after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
In December, Nigeria will seek revenge and a place in the CHAN 2024 tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Super Eagles B have come close to CHAN glory in the past, finishing as runners-up in 2018 and securing third place in 2014, but have yet to lift the coveted trophy.
Meanwhile, Ghana, who qualified for the last edition in Algeria, will be looking to continue their success. The winner of this tie will book their place in the CHAN 2024 finals, further intensifying the historic football rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana.
